2 New Ways to Get Real-Time Site Updates: Visitor Arrival Alerts & Late Arrival Notifications

Running a construction site means knowing two things at all times: who is on site, and who isn’t, but should be. Until now, answering either question meant calling the foreman or scrolling through the visitor log after the fact.

With our latest update, Construction Cure answers both questions the moment they matter, with two new real-time notifications designed to keep you informed without flooding your phone.

1. Visitor arrival alerts: know the moment important visitors check in

Not every site visitor needs your attention. But some do: the building inspector, the client’s architect, a specialist subcontractor you’ve been waiting on for weeks.

Visitor arrival alerts let you flag exactly those visitors. When a flagged visitor is checked in on any of your sites, everyone who should know gets an instant push notification:

Visitor arrived: James Carter arrived at Riverside Tower

Tap it, and you land straight on the project’s visitor list.

You decide who gets alerted, and about whom

Visitor alerts are built around two simple controls:

  • Per-visitor switch. Every visitor profile has an Arrival Alerts toggle. Flip it on for the inspector; leave it off for the courier. Only flagged visitors ever trigger an alert.
  • Role-based permissions. Company roles control both who receives visitor alerts and who can manage which visitors are flagged. By default that’s Owners and Office Staff, but like every permission in Construction Cure, you can tailor it per role.

The person doing the check-in never gets notified about their own action, and every alert also lands in the in-app notification centre, so nothing gets lost if a phone was off.

Why it matters: inspections start on time, clients get greeted, and nobody hears “the inspector was here two hours ago” ever again.

2. Late arrival notifications: one smart summary, not twenty pings

Late starts are one of the quietest profit leaks in construction. But nobody wants a phone that buzzes separately for every single late clock-in across a 30-person crew.

So we built late arrival notifications differently: one notification per project per day, and it updates itself.

Here’s how a morning looks at Riverside Tower (work starts at 08:00):

  1. 08:10: Oliver clocks in 10 minutes late. Nothing happens, because that’s within the grace period.
  2. 08:20: Jack clocks in. Your phone alerts once: “Jack Thompson arrived 20 min late at Riverside Tower.”
  3. 08:40: Emily clocks in late too. No new buzz. The same notification quietly updates to “2 people arrived late at Riverside Tower today.”
  4. Dismissed the notification and someone else shows up late? You’ll get alerted again, so you never miss new information you haven’t seen.

Tomorrow starts fresh, with a clean slate per project.

Tuned to how sites actually work

  • Grace period built in. A few minutes late isn’t an incident. Alerts only fire when someone clocks in more than 15 minutes past the project’s scheduled start.
  • Project working hours, project timezone. Lateness is measured against each project’s own working hours, in the project’s local time, not head-office time.
  • Role-based recipients. Only project members whose role includes late-arrival notifications receive them; typically foremen, managers, and office staff. The late person and whoever clocked them in are never pinged about it.
  • Approved time adjustments count. If a late start was pre-approved, it isn’t late.

Why it matters: you see attendance problems the morning they happen, as one glanceable summary per site instead of a wall of noise.

Built for signal, not noise

Both features follow the same philosophy: real-time should not mean relentless. Visitor alerts only fire for visitors you’ve flagged, to roles you’ve chosen. Late arrivals collapse into a single living summary per project. And everything respects each user’s personal notification settings, so every team member stays in control of their own phone.

How to turn it on

  1. Update your app. Go to App store or Play Store and make sure you’re running latest app version.
  2. Flag your key visitors. Open a visitor’s profile and switch on Arrival Alerts.
  3. Check your notification settings. Each user can choose how they receive Visitors on site and Late arrivals notifications in their personal settings.

That’s it. The next inspector check-in and the next late morning will find you first.

FAQ

Do I get a notification for every visitor? No. Only visitors with Arrival Alerts switched on trigger alerts, and only for team members whose role permits receiving them.

Will I get spammed if half the crew is late? No. You get one notification per project per day that updates in place as the count grows. New information after you’ve dismissed it will alert you again.

Who counts as “late”? Anyone clocking in more than 15 minutes after the project’s scheduled start for that weekday, measured in the project’s local timezone. Days without configured working hours never trigger alerts.

Can workers see who was reported late? Late-arrival notifications go only to roles you’ve granted the permission, typically supervisors and office staff.
